School uniforms are in many schools and are mandatory to wear. Some students like them and some don’t; each student has their own experience with school uniforms, whether positive or negative. There are arguments for them and against them, and this article will explore both sides of the issue.
THE CONS: School uniforms are globally hated by students around the world because of their often uncomfortable texture and mainly because students don’t have the freedom to wear whatever they are tempted to wear. They limit expression of creativity and they can be expensive to buy. In some situations, students rebel against the rule of mandatory school uniforms to anger administration but since it’s a rule, there are consequences for this. As we interviewed students, many said that they personally don’t like the color scheme of the uniforms and that they would rather wear their own clothes which are more comfortable for them.
THE PROS: While some students may hate the uniforms, others may like it. Some of the pros are that some students won’t have to waste time trying to pick what kinds of clothes that they would want to wear for that day. Along with this reason it will help them be on time to school, since their time with picking an outfit to wear will decrease. Another pro is that uniforms may help students feel more part of the school unity. It avoids the question of a teacher asking if a student's clothes are distracting for any reason. Not only that, but uniforms show a sign of discipline and respect at any given school. Uniforms can also provide safety to students-- like if a dangerous person stepped into the campus, the school staff would automatically know that it isn’t a student at that school.
